JUNE 19 “FULFILL YOUR MINISTRY “

 

   "And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark." We talk and write a lot about the genuine vs. the disingenuous Christian, but where our metal is really tested is in "Ministry". So many Christians avoid ministry and I have heard every excuse there is, as to why "I'm not going to get involved in ministry". And there's always a grain of truth in some of the reasons I hear, but at the heart of it, is a reluctance to be put through the refiners fire. Nothing refines a Christian like ministry. You want to see what a man or woman of God is really made up of, put them in ministry with other people. That will test any man, any woman's worth. How do we know Barnabas and Saul (Paul) are spiritual? Ans: They fulfilled their ministry!!! Not enough can be said for that. It was hard, it was more work than they thought, it was full of people problems, demonically opposed and much more, yet they fulfilled their ministry. It's amazing how many people get in ministry and quit. Always with a good excuse "why they had to get out".  Are you fulfilling your ministry? Are you in any ministry? Have you stepped into ministry and just as quickly stepped out? Do you have a bunch of reasons why you got out? Jesus said right before he died, "I have finished the work (the ministry) you sent me to do".  There is a "work aspect" to serving God that many Christians don't want to fess up to. "Labor while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can labor".  "It's all about loving Jesus"  No, it's all about loving Jesus and working for him. Ministry is the crucible of fire for the Christian, are you willing to step into it?!

NOVEMBER 21 "CLASS WARFARE IS AN UGLY THING"

     There’s no denying, James is not that fond of “rich people”.  If it was only this reference in Chapter 5, that would be bad enough, but James has taken jabs at the rich in other chapters as well. No doubt, James did not grow up with affluence of any kind. We know from the Gospels that Joseph and Mary (James’ parents) were poor. Historians believe that Joseph died at an early age, as he is not mentioned in the Gospels; except in the early stages of Jesus’ life. Now with Joseph dead, James & Jesus, probably had to work that much harder to make ends meet at home. Jesus himself takes a jab at rich people saying, “ it is easier for a camel to get through the eye of an needle than for a rich person to get into heaven ”.  I’m sure in the  Church  of  Jerusalem  where James was an elder, there were not many affluent people in that congregation. DECEMBER 12 "LOSING IS NOT AN OPTION"

         WHY is everything about being Victorious, about overcoming? 21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne." Is there not a place anywhere for the fainthearted, is there not a place anywhere for the man who wants to quit, for the man who is going to lose? Apparently, not even Heaven, of all places has a place for the loser or the quitter. Why does Jesus have to remind us that it will not be those that simply said a prayer one day, long time ago, that will inherit the Kingdom of God, but only those that overcome and are victorious?      When my son was in middle-school, I was coaching his football team and my son was the quarterback.
