JULY 24 “SEESAW RELATIONSHIP “


Of course barely anybody reading this knows what a “seesaw” is.   A seesaw is a found at a park (a park for you younger folks is a place outside your house where you actually go play) and there you used to find a seesaw. A kid would sit on one end and another kid at the opposite end and it would go up and down. Up down, up down, until you got sick of up down, up down; then you would move on to the swings.  There are some Christians that are the up & down Christians. The only difference, they don’t seem to get sick of it. In our reading today you should recognize who I’m referring to, Rehoboam! “After he was established as King, he abandoned the Law of the Lord”.  Then God brings judgment on Rehoboam and we read
 “The King humbled himself and said, The Lord is just”
     And the moment Rehoboam is doing fine again, he’s going down again. When I’m doing well, I stray from the Lord and then when I go down, I come back to The Lord.  Rehoboam is the classic seesaw Christian.  Well if you’re the up down seesaw Christian, who knows, maybe you end being “up” when you die; and it works out. 
If only,… but the truth is you will live a miserable
Existence and you will end up “down” in your final
Days because it catches up with you and the reaping of all the bad decisions “when you are down” is simply too much too bear and the Lord’s favor is gone and you are left with dire circumstances .  The lesson is, there’s no reason to be up and down. Learn when God prospers you, advances you or makes you King, to stay humble, know it’s The Lord and not you! Because the moment The Lord removes his Grace, how quickly we find, like Rehoboam, that it was not us, that was so awesome, it was The Lord!

DECEMBER 12 "LOSING IS NOT AN OPTION"

         WHY is everything about being Victorious, about overcoming? 21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne." NOVEMBER 21 "CLASS WARFARE IS AN UGLY THING"

     There’s no denying, James is not that fond of “rich people”.  If it was only this reference in Chapter 5, that would be bad enough, but James has taken jabs at the rich in other chapters as well. No doubt, James did not grow up with affluence of any kind. We know from the Gospels that Joseph and Mary (James’ parents) were poor. Historians believe that Joseph died at an early age, as he is not mentioned in the Gospels; except in the early stages of Jesus’ life. Now with Joseph dead, James & Jesus, probably had to work that much harder to make ends meet at home.
